Over the course of several months, Netflix contracted BUCK to create custom artwork for their home page tied to curated film collections celebrating cultural moments — local holidays, global events, and honorary months like Black History Month. Each piece was made in collaboration with illustrators from the communities each moment represented.
As art director, my job was twofold: helping to identify and hire artists whose voices were authentic to each cultural moment, then shaping the work in a way that honored those voices rather than flattening them. The challenge was knowing when to guide and when to get out of the way.
The campaign was widely embraced, with one illustration adapted into a large-scale installation wrapping the lobby of Netflix's Los Angeles headquarters.
